I'm going to do just that.
BTW, I agree with their grade on the other coin. I already have a 1908 Specimen in a PCGS SP64RD slab. The color looks the same as the one that DNC, so I don't think it could be questionable color. And it was supposed to cross at any grade. The obverse has a few little specks, but the coin looks original to me. I may have to send my already PCGS slabbed coin back in with it so they can compare the two. I'll keep you updated of the proceedings.

Mark,
Is that an option? I've often considered doing that but didn't know if they allowed it. Of course I never asked either.
If the coin comes back the same grade, and both coins are virtually identical, you might think the higher graded coin is overgraded, I suppose.
Edited because my spelling stinks sometimes.
Obscurum per obscurius
cross it at whatever grade they deemed it to be. But, I found out that if you don't specify the minimum grade, they use the current grade on the holder as the minimum.
I just sold the coin on ebay, at a loss. I have a PCGS SP64RD 08 cent. I don't need another of the same grade. Probably the person who bought it will get it into a SP65
holder. I hope they do anyway.

I made the same mistake on 5 coins sent at the $30 level. Only two crossed and then after I went to the web site and read the fine print, crossovers work differently than raw coins. If you do not specify a grade they assume you want it to cross at the same grade.

<< <i>Sorry newbie question, but what is "SP"

"Specimen". I believe this means the coin was specially handled or struck but the dies were not polished like a proof.
