Any idea why the mint can't produce a clean 2003(p) half, when they did such a great job on 2001(p) and 2002(p)?

They did! They have decided to grade them tougher. I have been turning out 01-p Kennedy's in 8 and when I put them side by side with a few of my 03-p pieces the 03-p's are definitly nicer. PCGS has officially tightened up! They are so inconsistent they make me sick!

Mark: What are you complaining about - check out my (50) PCGS slab auction over on the Buy,Sell, Trade board where I opened the bidding at $2/coin!! Check out the grades on those puppies and consider yourself lucky!

Mark: That is why I greatly admire the hard work and dedication of modern coin searchers like yourself.

Just consider this - my partner on that Roosie deal flew across the country to go to Long Beach in search of modern coins for submitting. Let's say he spent $1000++ in expenses to come out. I split a few submission lots with him with results similar to or just a bit better than the 50 coin auction I have for sale now. As I recall, on about 150 total slabs we got back, my partner on that deal will net about $250 after grading fees and raw coin costs. He did make a few thousand dollars on some coins that graded out from the show which we were not splitting. But, even so - the whole thing is just slightly better than break even for him for about 10 full days of work, most of which away from home. Of course, the prospect of getting the "big hits" and doing far better is why he is already booking his tickets to Long Beach to do it all over again next month.

Bottom line is it simply isn't as glamorous for the modern coin producers as it may appear
