OT, but then again...

Wanted to show you all what decided to do a little relaxing 4 feet from my front door yesterday. To make this coin related I'm looking for a nicely toned 1936P PCGS MS66 Washington quarter to fill a hole in my Registry Set. PM me if you can help me out. Thanks!

  • So Bullwinkle is a coin collector that is good to know lol!
  • Craig, Run up there and grab that 36p for me, will ya? I've heard too many stories about people getting too close and having the moose charge them. The picture above was actually taken by my neighbor. I was getting ready to walk out the door when I was surprised by it. Ran back and got my camera and took the shot below. Unfortunately the settings on my camera were adjusted for taking pictures of coins not moose. I stuck my arm out the door to get this shot. Terrible picture but you can get an idea of how close he was...

P.S. Notice the nice toning on that critter!

    Nice washi-quarters!! They are moose!!
  • I haven't seen a moose, even a photo, in a long time. I had forgotten how long their head is. We have deer in our yard sometimes, but never a moose!

Where do you guys live that have moose at your front door? 18th Century New England? I've been to nearly every state in the union and have never seen a moose. I even went to Alaska hoping to see one, but failed. I live in a small town out west (Los Angeles) and we have no such animals running wild here.

  • Tom, the pictures were taken at my house in Anchorage, Alaska. I live right in the middle of the city. Actually Moose roam all over the city. It's the safest place for them.image Can't believe you didn't see any while you were up here! No 36p Washington quarters but plenty of moose...

  • I too want to know where those photos are from.

I did see Moose before, once in Maine and once in Canada. I have family in Alaska and they see moose in Anchorage.
  • Another crossed post! Thanks Rick for the photos, I'm not surprised you live in Anchorage.

WOW, that second moose looks like the rare three legged variety!!!!!!

I see a couple of slabs coming out of that thing . . . . that is, slabs of flank steak and backstrap . . .

If I had it my way, stupidity would be painful!
  • Craig, That Moose will keep it's warm coat as long as it stays within the city limits. While I'm here I'd like to thank Bob of Zaps Coins for finding me that 36p I was looking for. Thanks Bob!image
