Negative Results on a Regrade - But Interesting

I recently cracked out a 1976 Topps Rose 9pd and sent it back in with my fingers crossed. Well, I just got back the results and it came back a straight 7. I know the registry rules downgrade qualifiers by two grades, so the result was pretty comical (at least to me).

I also cracked out a 1970 Reggie All-Star that had been graded a 7 and it came back a 6, so I was a big 0-2 on these two cards.

  • I think that like all things in life, grading is very subjective to the person who is doing the grading at that given time.

I have submitted a vintage common card twice through a major dealer and both times it came back a 7 and we were both shocked. I bought it as an SGC 92 and cracked it out before sending it in to PSA. When it bought it I actually thought it had a shot of getting a nine.

I then re-submitted the card myself after joining the collectors club and the card came back an 8.

I am satisfied with the eight but it took a lot of work and extra cash to get a grade that I could deal with.
