26-S ICG Lincoln

Mr. Hall,
I recently looked at a 1926-S ICG MS-65RD Lincoln cent on approval. I informed the dealer that I would like to cross it over to PCGS as I am building a registry collection. He was nice enough to inform me that the crossover had been tried numerous times without success. I sent the coin back. I have since been informed by numerous dealers that this coin will "never cross". Do you know about this coin? If so, what is the issue with it? Thanks so very much for being available and sponsoring this forum.

I am not familiar with this particular coin. I do believe that any great condition rarity...as a 1926-S MS65RD cent certainly is...in any non-PCGS holder has probably been unsuccessfully attempted to cross. These condition rarities are worth so much in a PCGS holder that you could bet money that any of them you see is not in a PCGS holder because it has already been tried at crossover and didn't work.
