Well actually it is me....
Sorry for the self promotion Zardoz! But hey us golf guys do not get the fame like you Kellogs Kollectors!!!
A Special Thanks to David Laurell for a nice write up on me and my golf card collection. Hope you take time to check it out in the SMR, They did include some nice pictures of some of my cards, hope my collecting interest can give you members out there a few enlightneing minutes of reading about something a little different.
I hope to make it to the National next year, or maybe even Chicago this fall, to finally meet many of you that grace the presence of these boards.

Dave....very impressive.
You do realize the danger in an article of this nature?
It was so well presented, and in light of the "reach" of the SMR into serious collector's hands, I'm sure that there are more than a couple that are saying to themselves that the idea of collecting REAL golf cards is not such a bad idea.
All of a sudden, you have increased pressure in the marketplace for the stuff that YOU want!!!!!!

I just took a peek at the PSA Library. I went back to an article from 1994. Here were some transactions from both private sales and auctions back in 1994.
1914 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb PSA 8 NM-MT $25,000
1933 Goudey Nap Lajoie PSA 9 MINT $85,000
1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig PSA 9 MINT $7,500
1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle PSA 8 NM-MT $3,200
1965 Topps Steve Carlton PSA 10 GEM MINT $800
1973 Topps Mike Schmidt PSA 9 MINT $1,000
1979 Topps Ozzie Smith PSA 9 $150
1982 Topps Traded Cal Ripken PSA 10 GEM MINT $750
1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. PSA 10 GEM MT $150
1990 Leaf Frank Thomas PSA 10 GEM MT $150
I plan to go through the library an make copies of each article for reference....its nice that PSA keeps the articles online.
John
I still have (and will always have)the Yankees ball.
Yes I realize the can of worms this may open but as you so often do, spreading the word so more can get involved is a lot more fun then hoarding all the cards to myself......
I hope a few more people jump on the wagon.
