Modern US Commems- MS worth more than Proof

Anyone ever review the pricing on modern US commems and notice that MS are often worth more than Proof, and the mint often sells fewer MS than Proof.

Actually in almost all cases they're worth more than the proofs because the mintages are substantially lower.

thats not all that unusual, the proof gets better handling and less damage so a real ms69 is more scarce than a pr69. Look at the Ike dollars in the price guide for an example of ms pricing..ms67 clad coins are 20 times higher than the proof of the same year.

I haven't had any problem selling modern commemoratives. As a matter of fact, the Mod. Comm. market is quite hot right now.

In 1995 many of the modern commems traded at prices based on spot. This was often
only 150 to 250% of melt value- - occasionally less. Issues made since 1995 tend to be
low mintage and high priced.
