A wispy handling mark.

Is that a nice way of saying a fingerprint?

No picture of the obverse. Link

Don't think so. I think it refers to a hairline like mark. Danger when the picture isn't available.

Why bother with this coin? This is not a date to get excited about. You don't need a coin with a "wispy handling mark".

I thought it was a funny description is all. I wonder who writes those things.

I am looking for a large cent with the heavy die cracks around the stars I think they look neat, thats how I found it.

There are plenty of Randall Hoard large cents around with the die cracks thru the stars. Take your time and a nice one will appear.

I think it does mean fingerprint. They have a Morgan up with that same term "wispy handling mark" with a huge thumbprint on the obverse.

I hate it when they don't show the Obverse. I passed on a bid for this reason. image

No picture of both sides = No bids. Period. Got to wonder why there is no picture of the obverse.
