Is this normal wear for a seated liberty reverse?

Is this normal wear? Why are some letters/words almost gone with shield detail intact?

Is this a Philadelphia or is there some mintmark there?
Is this authentic or a fake?image

thanks for your input

  • Looks like an O mint mark to me. Considering it's a w/motto coin I believe that leaves only the 91-O quarter. Unfortunately the placement appears different than the only 91-O images I could locate. Someone else may be able to tell you if it's a counterfeit or just a ghost mark or a gouge.

Yes, that appears to be normal wear on the reverse. The shield is well protected and would disappear only when all the other details are nearly gone too....incl the lettering.

More of the words may be there than the image shows.

I have noticed that some pics taken straight on don't show all thats there.

I think I looked at that coin on Ebay. I figured it was just a poor picture.
