    SBA 1979 S Pr Type 1 - $6.50. Type 2 - $84
    SBA 1981 S Pr Type 1 - $6.50. Type 2 - $180

    "The deal" is rarity!!

Ike type 1 & 2 only differ by a few dollars due to the quantities of each variety and the popularity of (or lack of) the coin itself. cm

    ER,

There are three different mint marks represented by the two SBA types. The 79 type one was a blob mintmark. The 79 type two was a clear S. The clear S 79 type two is also the 81 type I. The mintmark was changed again in 81 to a flat clear S. There are some nice threads here on the boards with pics if you do a search. With the Ikes, the type one coins were issued in the 1975 sets, and the lettering is a different font than the 76 sets (type two). The type one Ikes (particularly the P coins) are generally very poor quality, with weak strikes and UGLY planchets. Nice ones command a significant premium.

    Hope that helps.

One clarification on an earlier post; the mint struck the type one Ikes for only a few
months in 1975 and then swithched to the type twos still in '75. There are differences
on both the obverse and the reverse of these coins and no known mules.

All type ones were struck in '75 and all mint and proof set Ikes from '75 are type ones.
All regular mint and proof sets of 1976 contain the type twos.

There is no big deal really, but most collectors do collect each of these types. As DHeath
said the type ones are quite elusive in nice condition and bring high prices. The Philly t 1
is actually difficult to find even in MS-63. Only about 10% of the surviving '75 sets have a
    choice or better Philly dollar.
