Slabbed vs. raw regarding preservation of coins

bumanchubumanchu Posts: 1,383 ✭✭✭
It seems to me that not many have a high regard for the level of preservation that certain slabs may afford a coin. (In the overall scheme of things this is often overlooked in my opinion) TPG's also will guarantee that most coin's state of preservation will not deteriorate in their holders. This adds value to their services to me. I am sure there are horror stories of coins gone bad out there....image
And I ain't lying this time.

Oh yes. Slabs can and do trap moisture inside which will react to the coin alloy over time.
Thats why some have employed the Intercept Shield as a way to combat problems associated with
the trapped air inside the slabs.
I think its a great idea.
Why doesnt PCGS use the Intercept Shield material yet?
