I've offered before and will offer again...

I am willing to act as a "mediator" to some degree in trades... By this, I simply mean that I am willing to have traders send me their stuff in a trade and when both sides have been received as advertised, I will ship them out to each party to complete the trade. They would have to send to me either insured or w/ delivery confirmation and also pay to have them resent to the other person that way (I suggest both in larger trades or insuring for over $100 if it exceeds that value).

I have perfect feedback on every site I use as well as ebay (over 400 feedback on ebay alone), so you can be assured I'm trustworthy... This is always something to help some out if they are having a problem with trades...

just let the newbies send first.. kinda like on TR.. or ask for references.. a lot of ppl don't do that.. they just see a good deal and trade.. no wonder they get ripped

Well, as I mentioned on this before, it's not the best plan unless it's on big $$$ trades. Is it worth it for a $20 trade? NO... But for a $300-400 trade, spending $5 in shipping isn't all that much...

  • thats when u the trader cover ur behind, and make sure the other dealer has refs. if not its ur fault. Also on big trades i usually ask for confirmation, and insurance with scans of recepts ;-0 works for me

Furthermore, why don't people spend the frickin' .55 cents or whatever it is and use DELIVERY CONFIRMATION? It doesn't cover you if the item is lost, but it surely saves on the da//
childish arguements about who did and didn't receive...

Yup, I do agree but there are a ton who still get scammed and have to attempt to file charges, etc... It can still take a while. Never said it's a perfect solution, just a means to avoid the hassel that may come for a few extra dollars...

TR isn't bulletproof either.. in fact, I made about 30 deals on this board, and never got ripped.. then I make 5 deals on TR, and 2 of them don't send their stuff.. and JSA doesn't seem to do anything about it..

I must admit, I've done WELL over 500 online trades and never been officially ripped off. Had some deals that were less than intended, but nothing too major. When I first got started, I had to send first to almost everyone but took my time checking refs and making sure the deal felt right before moving forward.
I initially made most of my trades here and on Beckett, but mainly use SCS now because that is where I've found the most hockey collectors which is what I mainly collect. I still trade here, but mostly with the people I've already traded with.

There's no bulletproof site, but some are certainly better than others. This site is free and provided as a service by PSA. Whether one likes it or not, it's great for free. Unfortunately there's no screening process or official means to rid this board of the losers, so you take your chances. Same as anywhere else though, but maybe more so than other boards. Without moderators (we really know there's not one here but crap happens), the board can only be as good as it's members. Do some research before trading. If they have refs, check them all if you have to... Cross reference everything you can. Be leary of things like yahoo or hotmail email accounts, different addresses, people who demand you send first and people with little to no references. Ask the board for help.

When mailing, use delivery confirmation and/or insurance. Send in a bubble mailer or padded envelope.
Ask for specifics on cards (condition - ie:corners, borders, stains, etc...) before agreeing to a deal... I wont be bold enough to say if you get ripped off it's strictly your fault, but some people complain when they have no right to.
