Card Room Tours at My House around the National

Two or three months ago a few collectors on this board indicated an interest in seeing my card collection during their visit to Atlantic City. I am willing to try to do these on an individual or small group basis at a time that is mutually convenient. I live approximately 2 hours away from Atlantic City, 1 1/2 hours from Philadelphia and 25 minutes from Newark,NJ. I have approximately 20,000 psa-graded cards on display in well over 100 sets and perhaps another 100 ungraded sets. The collection is all sports --1887-1991 baseball, 1933-91 football, 1948-91 basketball and 1953-1991 hockey. There are also a few multi-sport sets thrown in as well as golf, boxing, bowling and 30 or so vintage non-sports sets.
Every dealer that has been to my house has found it impressive--I have never shown it to any serious collectors.
Either respond here or e-mail me at jdc122@aol.com if you are interested.

Just contact me when you have the time as you are not that far away and we will arrange a date.
Jim
Just shot you an email. Thanks for the offer!

Have you found anything nicer or more secure than Penzonni wall mount cases to display your graded cards?
You are not that far away--come see for yourself.
I would not be able to view your cards for two reasons:
1. I'm not going to the National & I live too far away.
and...
2. I would be too worried about causing water damage to your house
due to the excessive drooling.

<< <i>Murcerfan,

as usual, a direct question un-answered by "the knowledgable one"
Work kept me away from home more than I wanted and rather than tell "the wif" that I was going to be away even more that week, including Nationals - I figured that retreat was my best option...

Beefcake,
When you are as laid back as Mercerfan, two months is good timing I'm striving to be that laid back
Vic
that might be a step up from Penzoni. I'll bet Jim has . If anyone cares to share that would be great.
I have thought about designing a steel frame unit that would be built into a wood stud wall with security bolts and using UV resistant, bulletproof, fire-rated glass, perhaps with a eloctro coating that can be turned on to create a one way mirror, so the cards could be hidden. My guesstimate on the $$ makes it yet another pipe-dream, yet it could be done.
I know you were getting a little carried away with your idea for a new Wall-Mount, but please let me know if you find one. The UV protection would be key in my opinion. Penzonni works fine, but I would love to upgrade.

and now 64 Stand ups
I'm kinda new to the boards and live in Cherry Hill, NJ. I hate to ask this of you since you don't know me, but are us new guys invited? I'm sure Jeff Britton and some of the others would vouch for me.
Tom
Absolutele you are invited. You give me some potential times and I am happy to give you an hour or more. I live about an hour north of princeton.
Murcerfan,
Do not know what you ask about. I do not use this to store my cards.
Frank,
You are also welcome anytime. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks,

I gotta get together with you at some point. Any man that has taken the time to devise a baseball card wall-mount with James Bond hi-tech gadgetry is a friend to me. I'm sure you're a man of leisure much like myself. If we sat down together, think about the wild inventions we could brainstorm. Here's a list of what I'm working on:
Cracker cages for animal crackers
Magnetic food and toilets for those who don't move their bowels regularly
Invisible gum that can be chewed in public school classrooms
Bio-mechanoid blow-up dolls with real saliva glands
Currently trying to sell high stakes Bingo and gambling to the airlines
O'Douls Marijuana joints - Tastes like pot, however it's THC free
A button for cars that changes the brake into a clutch, the clutch into a gas pedal and the gas pedal into a brake so your kids can't snake your car when you go on vacation
I'll be in my isolation tank next week, but I'm free the week after.
Let me know,
Satan
Jim,
Good to see you are posting again.I wasn't too thrilled with your post on the SGC board but it is not my place to judge.
PSAtan,
I'll bet you do your best thinking in inversion boots. Let me know if you need a backer on the abovementioned ideas.I have always been a little backwards myself.
Vic
I will admit to a mistake in judgment. While I can ignore the personal attacks, enough serious collectors expressed concerns that I realized I shouldn't have done it. I hope to selectively participate again when I have something to add.

But I will not trade back PSatan. I always feel like I am reading the rantings of a Schizophrenic genius with his posts!
Glad to see your change of heart. This board needs your views and experiences.
PSAtan,
You're a mixture of Tim the Tool Man, Mr. Mint, and Cormo Kramer. Doesn't that make you a wacko?
Like they always say, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. i've yet to find really nice pre-fabricated cookie cutter cases. i've had to enlist a carpenter to build my display cases. i've also custom built double mattted framed displays to hold specific genres of cards. expense really isn't that prohibitive when you have people build things for you as long as you don't need to have mahogany wood or suede matting etc.....it just takes some time scrolling through the yellow pages, and a specific design you can effectively express.
