How Do You Retire A Set?

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to retire one of my sets before I sell and can't, for the life of me, figure out how to do it. I've searched all the pages on the PSA Set Registry site, gone to Delete A Set -- but that will just delete it entirely. Any help on how to do this so my set remains on the All-Time Finest list would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kevin

    Hello Kevin,

I believe that if the set total exceeds 90% completion, PSA will allow it to remain in the All-Time Finest category.

Are you still working on the '51 Topps Magic set?

    Thanks,

    Marcus

Here is the official rule ...

You should retire a set from Current status when you have sold the set or you have no plans to upgrade the set. If your set was at least 90% complete at the time of deletion, it will remain in the All Time Finest category and will be listed with a "viewable" status. If you still own the cards in a retired set that was 90% complete at the time of retirement and the set remains in the All Time Finest category, those same certification numbers should not be re-used by you in a new set you may start in the same category. Should you wish to re-use those cards, please contact customer service first to delete the All Time Finest set from the registry.

... that can be found in PSA Set Registry --> Rules (will be a pop-up box).

    Good luck,

    Marcus

I second sixdart. A deleted set stays in the All-Tme finest.

    More importantly:
    1. Which set?
    2. Why wasn't I contacted???
    (if its Bowman FB!!!)

  • Hi Randall,

Just the baseball sets for now:
A&G N28 (Mastro August Auction), A&G N29 (Mastro August Auction), Red Heart (Mastro August Auction), 1963 Fleer (eBay over the next few weeks)

Of course I'll let you know if I plan to dispose of the Football!

    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Thanks Marcus (sixdart), that did the trick! The problem was that when you select a set and hit delete, there is no notice before your action that it will remain as a retired set. That info pops up after you delete -- should probably be mentioned before.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

    Kevin,

Sorry to hear you're breaking up your baseball sets. Do you still have all those '61s that came from cello? If you have any '69 baseball you are offloading, let me know or post something here so I can watch for the auctions. Good luck.
  • Jay,

Yep, the Red Heart set is going in the Mastro Auction. They are breaking out the Mantle 10 and Musial 9 into two separate auctions, and then auctioning the 17 other PSA 9s as one lot, and the 14 PSA 8s as another lot. Feel free to bid like a maniac and purchase any or all of the lots!

    John,

Nope, no '69s at the moment -- but I haven't really scrubbed the raw yet, could be a few in there that will go off to PSA but it will take me awhile to get to it. As for the '61s from that 1st Series Cello Box, I sold off the graded duplicates over the last few years, but kept the nicest copy of each in raw form as I'm doing that set (and have been for 20+ years) completely ungraded.

    Cheers,
    Kevin
