grading

I just received notification on a coin I sent in to PCGS (my first )the email told me the coins grade is M/G, could someone tell me what M/G means , I emailed PCGS customer service and have not heard from them. thanks

  • It means minimum grade. Did you tell them you were seeking a certain grade? This means the coin will come back in a flip ungraded.
  • BTW thepesokid, This should have been in the us coin or registry set forums.
  • you are probable write, I have been to estate auctions and know for a fact the good stuff is already gone to dealers and friends so I tried a police auction and found a 1859s lib half in great shape,I though it would be better to resell if it was graded, the coin didn,t have a scratch on it even with the 10x lupe I had with me, I still think I got avery nice old coin for $80.00. thanks

  • What did you ask PCGS to do when you sent in the coin??
  • I thought they would grade the coin I remember they asked what the minimum grade I would accept,they gave me a cert. no. to check and verify, I guess I will just call then thank you very much.
