Superior catalog lists 15% buyers fee. EBAY listing says it's 20%. Anybody know which is correct? [no response to my email sent to them yet].

That seems excessive to me. Also, deceptive since the catalog lists 15% fee. I'll pass on this one. Sad, because I was interested in several lots, including Zardoz's Battle set.

I ran into the same thing with a coin auction house. If you bid for the lots on Ebay, the fee was 20%. By placing the bids directly with their web site, the fee was 15%.
I questioned Ebay about it, and their reply was that the auction houses were allowed to charge a lower comission to "floor bidders" than internet bidders. The idiots at Ebay can't even read.
So Ebay didn't get any FVF on the auctions. It would have cost me $750 to win the same lots via Ebay.

Buyer's Premium
A "Buyer's Premium" of 15% will be added to the hammer price of each lot which sum will be the purchase price.
Link to Random auction, click BP in Next Bid box
Maybe it's 20% if you bid thru eBay and 15% thru Superior.

<< <i>20% is simply too high. But I guess it keeps your top all bid confidential - so perhaps its worth it. I'll just stick to straight ebay purchases and save the hundreds or thousands altogether. >>
I have to agree with you.

As a seller, all I care about is how much I'm going to get back, which will be determined greatly by the % I get of the total income of the item. If it sells for $1000, plus 15% BP, and I pay 10% seller's premium, I get back $900 out of $1150 gross, or 78.2%. Why do I care how something is figured, unless someone can show me their way of figuring it will net me more?

The problem is if you are the seller...the 20% is going to affect your bottom line...one way or the other.

Well yes, and that may well be why I would not consign an item to this auction in favor of another auction. OR, I'd insist on paying a lower seller's fee. One or the other.
I'd wager the 5% difference is what ebay is getting out of it.
