Need a little advice...

I'm working on my 50 commem type set (Sailor Bob's Classics) and when I began I was just looking for nice examples. Then, it turned into a quest to assemble a type set all in 1st generation PCGS holders. I now have 44 total with 22 being in 1st generation holders. I'm now down to the real spendy ones and I am forced to look in the lower circulated grades or even XF - AU.

The question is this; How many do you think there would be left in 1st generation holders?

I am in the process (during my search for the final six) of replacing coins in the new holders with ones I find in the old holders.

My want list is in my sig line. I value all opinions.

Cheers,

Bob

Actually, both. I happen to like the old rattlers. I know that most have been cherrypicked, but of those that I have I'd say around eighteen are upgrade candidates. The thing is, I don't play the crack-out game. So all I have will remain in the original holders. As far as classic commems go, I love them.

a worthy quest..it would make me completely nuts but worthy..there are some very cool coins still out there..ive seen a few..why not do the "rattlers" in the lower grades and try for as good of a set as you can afford/find also..

    Bruce,

That's exactly what I'm doing; looking for the lower grades if necessary to complete the set. I'm not so much concerned about the rating of my registry set, just want to put one together in the rattlers. Mind you, the coin still has to meet the grade stated on the holder. I've bought and sold those that are not up to par.

    Cheers,

    Bob
