Taking resumes, please submit

Greetings collectors,
Over the past week, we have seen collectors speak their minds towards the pricing of the SMR. We all want a guide that we can reference, an accurate one at that. This is the reason why I have taken on the task of forming a group of 20 people to review all sales from Ebay and other private sales for a more accurate reading. I will in turn report the changes to Joe Orlando. I would ask that any QUALIFIED collector would study four to five sets in the SMR. An example, King Kellogg could report to me any MAJOR changes from 1970-1983 on these sets (lowered or raised). I am not looking for a spread sheet off all 792 cards from 1972 Topps, but a list of 40-50 cards from the set that need to be altered. I would also like to know the item number or if it was a private sale. Because King Kellogg follows these sets everyday,(probably more like every hour) he could note any material change. If you truely want to see a better product guys, here is the chance. Please send me a private email at Shaneleo@aol.com.

Regards,
Shane Leonard

I plan on doing something similar for 1971 Topps, but will focus only on Ebay sales as those are the easiest to verify, and because Ebay is the most heavily used venue for sales. Being free from the constraints of the SMR, my intent is to provide individual common pricing in addition to the stars.
  • i already do it for all major hockey cards/sets. i have so much info that i dont even use the smr

I elect John Rink (Jrink) and Steve Creason (Purely PSA) to the committee.

In about 4 to 6 weeks I have been recently informed that I will be receiving my first SMR magazine.

Best of luck in the research, folks!

I track the 1969T baseball set and can provide inputs for that issue. I'm also willing to track 1968-74 baseball regular issue Topps sets.

I track 1975 Topps a lot. I would be willing to help with that set. There are probably many 1975 specialists on this board though.

We'll need to know what information is needed and in what form it should be communicated in (Excel?). One other question is how we prove a private sale was completed. Is some sort of documentation required to prove the sale occured? Is one sale sufficient to justify adjusting the SMR? Perhaps some guidelines need to be adopted to ensure the integrity of the prices in the SMR is established/maintained.

    1954,

The only one's I feel qualified on are 1954 Topps BB, 1961 (Rob McBride is a much better choice)ToppsBB, 1967 ToppsBB, and 1964 Topps Hockey. I will be willing to do one set (your choice) and I feel that we should get a few grades per month from PSA for the effort.

    Regards,

    Alan

    Rob -

Thanks for the plug. I really appreciate you thinking that this is something that would be right up my alley. However, I don't have nearly the collecting experience that many of the board members do. They'd be much more qualified to compile something that might have an impact on the SMR than I would.

Steve,I figured with your interest from another topic where you mentioned the possibility of making your own price guide that this job was something you were interested in taking on.

Well anyway folks,I found something from Andale that could help anybody out with their extensive research of prices.

    http://www.andale.com/research/res_quickstart.jsp?foo=9043

Hope this will help anyone out.The prices I noticed go further back than ebay's completed items.

Best of luck and anyone who I can help out please give me a shout,I'd be only able to assist but not take on a full responsibility,so if anybody needs an extra set of hands just let me know.
