  • galveston, maybe you or some of the other k-nuts can answer this question that has been bothering me for a long time. why, in 1973, did kelloggs not use the regular holographic design (i cant think of a better term than holographic, sorry).
  • I would love to know the answer myself.
    The nominees are:
    Didn't like the cracking?
    Tried to save some money?
Xograph couldn't or wouldn't do business that year?

I have a 1971 set that doesn't have the coating and they have the look and feel of the 1973 set. So, I'm pretty sure the 1973 cards were produced the same as always, they just didn't get the plastic coating. Does anyone know if Xograph did the printing and the plastic coating? Or, did they just do the plastic?

  • thank you. i think it might have something to do with the cracking, because from the k- cards i have, cracking seems to be more prevalent on pre-73 issues
