    Skycap,

    Just in case the data is readily available for the top total sets registered, that you listed;

    How many are 100% complete for each year ?? , how many 25% or more ??, and how many are LESS than 10 % ??image

    No wonder I never have any money - I'm collecting 6 of the 14 most collected sets. image

    I might have to start collecting more of the least registered sets. image

  • Virtualizard,

    Come join the 62 pool. The waters a little warm, but fun and not too crowded. PSA 8 for every card doesn't even exist yet. These waters are for the masochists who are too weak to do the 71.
    Call me crazy, but I collect 62 Topps BB.

    Mike,

    You may want to edit that data after the "glitch" is taken care of.

    I didn't check all of the sets, but I know there are 4 sets over 75% complete for 1970 Topps (Missabay set is showing an incorrect %) and possibly 7 sets for 1969 Topps Basic (Ron Sanders' set is showing the wrong % and I didn't bother to check what he had added recently - last correct % listed was 73.19%).

    In any case, interesting data. It really shows which sets are the best regarded in the hobby. '56 and '52 Topps are no surprise. Can you imagine if some of the huge vintage collectors widened their range of "vintage" collecting to 1972 - that '71 set would pass the '56 set in less than a year. I am always surprised at the popularity of the '68 set - I never liked it (I'm sure I'll take some heat for that statement). Then again, I collect the '70 set, so I guess I'm the proverbial "pot" calling the kettle black. image

    Jeb> I tried to keep an eye on sets where the percentage was off, but the overall set rating was right. For example, on the 1971 set I included Scott Tipton's set as over 75% since it shows him at only 26% - but a set rating of 7.60. Looks like I missed a few.

    I was thinking about the original question here and the data that Mike posted, and I decided to check activity on each of these sets. I think the only accurate measure of the most popular current sets is to see which sets have members actively adding cards. I plan to keep a running average of the sets' activity over the next few months to gauge which sets are really the most popular right now. I know that comparing 1975 Topps to 1952 Topps is absurd, but I think this analysis may be interesting. Although the data presented below is currently just a snapshot in time of these sets, I plan to update it at least once a week. Any suggestions would be welcome.
