Here is the 1916-D I finally received yesterday. It is graded by ANACS as V06. This coins is not net graded. Will the coins cross? And does it have a chance at VG10? Please share you thoughts.
Thanks,
Tony

ANACS over graded this coin a bit. It is a very nice looking 16D, but I don't think PCGS will grade it any higher than G4. Here is why:
The Obverse is well worn and the details on the wing are gone. I think it needs some detail on the wing for a VG grade.
The reverse does not have a complete rim. It is worn down to the letters. I think VG needs to have complete rims.
Just my opinion. I would be very interested to see what others have to say.

Thanks for the info!
Maybe I should be more concerned with the coin crossing... Do you think the coin will cross at G04? or cross at all?

When I saw the original picture of the coin a couple of weeks ago, I thought it had a shot at VG. Your picture here is much clearer, and I have to say now that it's only a Good, based on the lack of a full upper reverse rim. If that rim were complete, it would almost certainly be a VG. As it is, it's one of the nicest Goods I've seen, and it should easily cross to a PCGS holder.
You might try doing a search of any of the Mercury key dates on eBay (PCGS graded), and compare them to your coin. There are also likely to be some dealers that have them on their websites. I personally believe that PCGS is a bit generous in grading circulated Mercs, compared to the standards I learned 30-35 years ago.
