1965 Topps Battle Set

The #1 Registry set is up on Superior's auction block. This is a great set from the 60's. Sorry to see that Zardoz is selling it. Good luck Paul.

I just watched the DVD presentation of the set. Interesting to say the least.

What page in the catalogue is it on?

    Thank you Alfiewt.
  • Thanks guys.

I just couldn't upgrade it! In a year of searching, I couldn't upgrade one card and believe me I looked. They just aren't out there. The only ones that come along look as though they were kept in someone's back pocket for years. I should have probably kept the set, as I feel that one day, its true rarity will come to light given the increasing popularity of non-sport issues and the artwork of Norm Saunders of Mars Attacks fame, but I've had my fun in the chase and I'll let someone else take up the challenge.

In my non-sport pursuits, I'm currently doing the Fleer Beverly Hillbillies set. Hey, its got Ellie-May's rookie! image

ZARDOZ - I agree! I think the non-sport market will be the next avenue discovered & devoured by the collectors & dealers. It is literally an untapped market. And many '60's sets are affordable in comparison to the sports counterpart. And since many of the vintage sports cards are drying up in ungraded form, it makes sense. And some raw sets are very reasonable like Rat Patrol, Gomer Pyle, Garrisons Gorillas, Monster Laffs etc... jay

I've got this set raw..it will move up on my list to get graded depending on how well it sells for at Superior.

I agree that there's a lot of raw Non-Sports out there...some of it has to be nice. I recently graded my Mars Attacks, Crockett and Civil War News sets. Got my share of 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's and even one 10. One problem is grading costs: even at $5 a card, it cost me $800 to get my Crockett sets graded!

What a cool set.....and what a bad idea by Topps to put it out for the kiddies way back when (in my opinion).
