Really bummed--My 1916-D lost in the mail. UPDATE COIN RECEIVED!

fcloudfcloud Posts: 12,133 ✭✭✭✭
I picked up a nice ANACS G6 on e-bay. I sent the seller an e-mail to see when he would send the coin, only to find out he shipped it priority mail just shy of two weeks ago. At least we insured for the full amount I paid. It looks like I get to go talk to the Postal Employees tomorrow.

Edited to add--

It seems the postmaster went on vacation. You know when the cats away the mice will play. The package has been sitting on a shelf since June 27. It seems they forgot to leave a slip. When the postmaster retruned, she left me a "second notice." When I went in to pickup the package, she said, "you didn't get a first notice-did you?" I told her I did not. She was not happy. All in all -- not lost!

I think the seller is the one who will need to see the PO. I also recall a 30 day wait. You will need to sign something & return it to the seller stating you never received the coin. Also, the PO can track and see if it was delivered/signed for based on the tracking number that goes with the insurance.

    Brian,

The seller sent me a photo of the receipt, and the people at my post office are nice, so I think they will probably run the receipt number for me.

Sure hope the coin shows up. Like some others here I had one that took 3 months to show. Not real good for the stress factor when it takes that long to get a coin you want.

BTW I have some sort of a Snafu going right now also I believe. Stressed out also right at the moment. image

You have to wait the 30 days for a claim, but the sending PO can look up to see if the receiving PO has it prior to a claim.

Have the seller check with his PO

Congrats! I still don't have one of these terrific coins.

    Hi Tony,

I am so glad to hear you received the dime. image From what I hear and see, you did good son!

I know how it is to worry about a purchase.

I had a similar problem here this week on two packages that had been sitting at the post office for almost 2 weeks. Temp driver, no notices, didn't fill out the paperwork correctly, so showed up as out for delivery, not being held for pick-up. The temp did not place the packages in the correct place either. The supervisor was not happy, we are friends now, and he gave me his private number so in case of future problems, I can call him direct!

    Wayne,

Betty (the post master by me) is a real nice person, and I have called her direct before. She knows the packages contain coins and watches them for me.
