Washington Quarter People: What is this worth??

This quarter showed up in a 2000-S proof set that I bought. PCGS came back saying that they had no variety for it, but that the flat E was probably caused from grease in the die. I am not an expert on Washingtons and would like to hear from the pros here what they think about this coin and if there is any value in it.

One note, somewhere along the way, a fingerprint showed up on the Obverse! Grrrrr.

Thanks!

Hi. I think that most "filled dies" are considered to be minor errors and don't command much of a premium -- contrary to a 3-legged buffalo which was a more substantial error (polishing away) or a 1955 double-die cent (a more pr0nounced error.)

First, you should see if PCGS will regrade the coin and note the error on the slab. Once that is done, wait a few years to see if more pop up. If not, then an error collector/dealer might find your coin indeed rare and valuable.

I wouldnt try to price the coin now, because without some measure of its rarity the price would be very low. Patience is on your side and could reward you.

I have a 1943 steel cent with a filled "4" which I was offered two dollars for once. I will hold onto that coin forever, or until filled die steel cents become red hot.
