Questions about 1949 Leaf Football

I have been considering putting together a 49 Leaf Football set for a little while now, and I wanted to seek some advice before making the plunge. Does anyone have any recommendations. I am probably going to put this together in PSA 6, just to keep the cost down somewhat. It is short (49 cards), so it seems as though it shouldn't be to hard to complete, but I am not even sure how often they come up on eBay. Any past experiences with this set, or any other recommendations would be great. Thanks

  • 1949 Leaf football is simply awesome!
It's an undervalued set in my opinion. I have a few nice examples, and the price NEVER goes up on these cards. A mid grade set would be perfect. Dealers seem to get them in bunches, and centering (although not as bad as their baseball set) is a big concern.
And I hate to tell you, the set is 150 cards, but who cares, all you need is patience and money.
    We all got that, right?

Correction Interchanges: the set is numbered 1-150, but it is skip-numbered and is complete at 49 cards.

The set is complete at 49 cards. It is next to 1948 Leaf the toughest post war football set to assemble in psa 8 or better. A lower grade set, however, should be manageable.
  • I looked under completed items on eBay, and there were a number of 5 and 6's offered in the last week, but it looks almost impossible to put together in high grade. The highest possible set rating is 7.90. A 6 set will suit me just fine. Does anyone have any idea of collectors/dealers with any of these in midgrade? Thanks
  • Davalillo...those are some great cards you have under your 49 set. Are you going to post any pics anytime soon?

    No--sorry. two problems--first, I don't have time and second, I don't know how.
