Etiquette for Email for sale offers to registry people?

So has there been an established Etiquette for email some registry participants about some coins you have for sale? I don't want to upset people, but many participants (I do), include their email address in the registry listing. I do it so people can contact me about the set, for sale offers, want to buy offers, etc. The bottom line is; is it OK to email registry email addresses with for sale offers?

Thanks,

Brian

I think you will find that most registry participants will be very pleased to get an email or PM offer of a coin. cheers, alan mendelson

It is absolutely OK with me for anyone to contact me with a coin I need. I may or may not purchase it. I have picked up some very nice coins by people contacting me thru the Registry that I would have never had the chance to get anywhere. Email me anytime anywhere.image

  • I agree, if you post a link to your email, you can hardly complain when anyone uses it to contact you.
  • The main reason to keep my sets open is to create the possibility of receive offers by e-mail available there.

Ditto. Of course I'm usually broke, but sooner or later I might actually have some money when somebody offers me a coin. image

I like when people contact me regarding coins I collect.

It's especially nice when they take the time to see if I actually need them (I don't have
the coin or they have an upgrade candidate).

I am always open to offers of coins I may need. I may not always buy for various reasons, but thats what its all about trying to get the best coins you can afford for you sets.

I very much agree with what everyone else has to say. It is difficult to know when Registry quality coins become available otherwise. It's good for someone with a high quality coin: here's a set of willing, active buyers. It's good for the buyer: here's a chance to be first/second in line for a gem that might otherwise go to some dealer's wish list people.

sometimes as it has been pointed out to me..(you know who you are)..its nice to cut out the middle man on a nice quality coin..especially if its someone you have discussed coins with before..i always like getting offered nice coins for my sets..

Brian: Registry set owners with their e-mails listed are begging to be offered coins in their specialties that represent upgrades or coins they need . Fire away ... But, I would restrict any offerings to their collecting interests and not send them a laundry list of every coin you have.

    Please....email me with coin offersimage

Have done business with forum members but have had only 1 email out of the blue.....thought there would be more.

That's how I sold my previous #1 mint state IKE set. I simple emailed all set registrants who listed emails with a list of what I had and prices. Within a day or two, all were sold at prices way above what I was offered by dealers, and probably to the buyers, way below what they would have paid from a dealer.

Do it, and do limit the offerings to what they collect. Also cater quality to the set holder. If a registrant has all 67s, there is no point offering common date 65s (though maybe a key date). Also, if you have a specific date to sell, look for some registrants who need that date. They may not buy, but are usually happy yo hear from you.

  • I have gotten a few offers to sell, and a few offers to buy.

The only thing that ticked me off was someone blindly sending to every
Registry member, with a comment that he was sending it to every set
so you might get multiple copies. That is basically coin spam; limit the
email to specific offers in my opinion.

  • Great question and a timely one for me.

I am about to put up my lincoln set and this helps very much how I go about marketing it.

I also love it when other Franklin collectors contact me with offers on gaps that I have. That is certainly why i post my e-mail!

I do not care for Emails about coins. I would rather go to the BST board and Plead and Beg for them......Wrong !!

Biggest problem with the Emails I have got is that they are for Big Buck Coins and I have a Small Buck Wallet. image

You cna email me with coins I need but I don't have any extra money now so I will most likly pass. I have obtained trhee dimes I think and would like more but most are priced too high for me.

I have been getting them in other coin deals.

Being a dealer has some benifits (wife make me buy my dimes oout of invertory) that's the only down side. She sells them to me at just under blue sheet

  • Everyone seems to be in agreement. I also feel if the e-mail address is there AND you have a SPECIFIC coin someone needs to add to or upgrade their set it's OK. This does NOT endorse sending them a laundry list of everything you want to sell. I welcome any & all offers to me for what I need and have only e-mailed members in cases where I've had a specific coin they need or needed for an upgrade (although I've still been called a "spammer" image by some of those cranky people image ).
