Yes, they're very misleading and don't state at all that they're reproductions. Isn't this against the ebay rules?

He's passing along a fee... I can't find the report item now, but someone should send eBay an email that he is charging, against rules, the 3% fee.

  • I just sent an email to ebay support on these two adds.........he lists them as "coins"....not coins......they are copies and he does not say so..........and the 3% charge to the bidder for PayPal is against the rules.......I'll keep you posted as to what ebay does/says

  • Thanks.

I could not find any information on the 3% Fee in rule violations as it does not circumvent Ebay(Paypal) fees but diverts them to the buyer. The coin reference is definitely a violation, and the seller, who sells coins, and the non-coin, knows, should know better.

My gut is Ebay has bloated to such a size that they will not do anything. Too busy chasing bigger, badder, meaner fish.

    We'll see.

    Thanks.

Sellers may not charge eBay buyers an additional fee for their use of ordinary forms of payment, including acceptance of checks, money orders, electronic transfers or credit cards. Such costs should be built into the price of the item. This policy reduces the potential for confusion among bidders about the true cost of an item. Further, some forms of payment surcharges, such as credit card surcharges, are forbidden under the laws of many states, including California. For more information, see:
    <A onclick="return openNonHelpWindow(this.href);" href="http://www.mastercardintl.com/faq.html#b_cust_serv" target=third>http://www.mastercardintl.com/faq.html#b_cust_serv
There are three exceptions to this rule:
    • Sellers may add a reasonable shipping and handling fee to the final price of their item, providing that this fee is disclosed up-front in the listing. A shipping and handling fee can cover the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Shipping and handling fees cannot be listed as a percentage of the final sale price.

    • Sellers may pass along the costs associated with using a third-party escrow service, if the buyer chooses to use an escrow service.

    • Sellers may choose to accept payment in a different currency than the currency listed on eBay. If the buyer chooses this optional payment method, the seller may pass along to the buyer any costs associated with the currency exchange, provided that the costs are disclosed and agreed to in advance by the buyer.
Please note that some types of payment surcharges are permitted on some of eBay's international sites.</TD></TR>

Barry Goldwater Jr. was a Congressman from California over 20 years ago. He ran in the California Republican Senatorial Primary in 1982 (I think...it could have been earlier perhaps 1980) and lost Pete Wilson who in turn defeated Edmund G. Brown Jr., the two term California Governor.

In any event, I am surprised that he would be involved in this type of activity.image

  • Just to keep you up to date.........I just received a "form letter" email from ebay........that said thanks for letting us know, we will investigate........blah blah blah.........and then it says that they don't inform 3rd party, so I guess I won't know what happens, unless I keep an eye on this guy's stuff...........not enough hours in the day.....oh well, maybe............

  • The auction in question has dissapeared off the face of EBAY and EVERY other auction this seller had posted seems to have suffered the same fate.

I don't like interfering with other sellers, but if they don't play by the rules, anarchy is just around the corner.

    Thanks.
