Productive Trip to the Local Coin Shop **Additional grades posted 9 Sep 03**

I went to my local coin shop yesterday--started as normal, no slabbed material, and no high grade raw type. I asked to see the flat pack proof sets in the case, and he said "you've looked at all those already"... rats. Then he added I have some you haven't looked at. He brough out about a dozen flat packs. I went through and selected $251 dollars worth to buy...

1955 - $125
1956 - $55
1957 - $22
1962 - $13
1963 - $13
1963 - $13
1964 - $10

Each has what looks like a nice cameo Franklin or Washington, and a couple Roosies to boot. The 64 is AH but not cameo. Unfortunately, I didn't have $251 cash on hand and had to leave the sets wrapped up with my name on them. I'll be back Monday to pickup, and let you know how these coins look outside the cello!

Maybe the scans are just bad but judging by them the halves do not have enough contrast to make cameo designation. If the halves look like that in person, if it were me I wouldnt waste my $20 per coin. BTW what do the other coins look like?

Okay, whats the diff betwixt T1 and T2 Frankies? And what years do you find em?

Newkid, thanks for the advice. I've submitted one or two coins before, and will take my chances.

The T1 & T2 Franklins show in the reverse design. The easiest way I know to tell is the small eagle. On T1 (rarer), it has less detail in the wing feathers like the preceeding years. T2 has much more bold wing feathers, as do later years.

What years had the type 1s? I have a 54 proof that has noticably less detail on the eagle than the ones I have from the 60s

1956 is the only one with these 2 types, so I guess you could call the 50-55 years type 1 also.

Rec'd grades on the 3 halves today (along with that $3G in the other post).

1955 PR66CAM (Despite the scan above, this had the deeper mirrors and slightly better frost then the 56)
    1956 PR67
    1964 AH PR66

I'm satisfied, but not jumping for joy. Another point on the 55 would have been nice, and the CAM on the 56.
