Dave Jacobs #1 1969 Basic Set-Congratulations!

I just noticed that Dave surged ahead to the number one position in the 1969 Basic set category. This is no small achievement and I am sure it has been accompanied with sweat & tears image . Ron Hobbs has a wonderful collection as well. Thus, the bar has been raised to an extremely challenging level for the rest of us. Great job Dave.

    Congratulations Dave,

Now let's see you complete the thing. image

I know it's imminent - good luck with the last 2 cards.

Dave's set will only get better over time. I see many upgrades in the future and a continually rising GPA. image

BTW, my set re-entered the top 20 this week. image

  • Dave,

Nice effort! It is definitely an achievement you should be proud of. Some of the best 69's ever graded are contained amongst this fine gathering of registry collectors and now you stand atop the heap.
Keep at it; and good luck with the last two cards.

Thanks guys. I wanted to be part of this 69 group for a while. These guys are great as is the rest of this board. I will continue to upgrade. I now have the two cards I need in raw I just need to submit them. The Nettles and the Elia should be at least 7's. I do have cards in route that will take me to 8.30. I also have a submission in that has 20 or so SGC 92's in it for crossover.I have a Shannon in that may be the second 9. Some real tough ones. As Jay has stated I will try to finish my 65's and now have decided to work on the 66 and the 71. I would like to thank Bob(gaspipe),Jay,Dan(dude) Dhcards and everyone else who have helped.

Great job. Anytime a high grade set can be completed like that it is an awesome accomplishment. That's why the collections of Branca, Fogel, Merkel, Davalillo, et al are so phenomenal.

Fantastic job Dave! Not only is your ranking impressive, but I'm equally impressed that you built that set that quickly. It only seemed like 6 or 7 months ago you started working on it. Congratulations!

Its the number one card on my priority list. That card is just down right hard to find. I have a extra Yaz in 8 and a extra Gibson in 8 but the best I can do on the brock is 6. I been waiting for Bob to list one.
Time is on my side I will find one.

  • Dave - Shoot me an email at aja4rayb@msn.com - I'd be interested in the extra Gibson in PSA 8.

They do come up on eBay a few times a year. The last one from MintExpress sold for around $250. I've seen them go anywhere from $150 to $250. Kyle Boetel had one for sale for $225 that sold after several months in his display case. It had a soft corner which probably lowered its appeal. Unfortunately I don't know of one for sale at the moment or I'd give you a lead. If I come across one, I'll let you know.
