What is Reed Hawn doing now?

He seemed kind of young to walk away from the hobby.

He had a 1804 dollar and a 1913 nickel image

I still remember he showed these coins to the CCCC coin club (Austin Texas) members in the good old days.

BTW, I like his completed Barber collection the most.

    CK,

He had quite a collection at a very young age. Owned an 1804 Dollar, and a 1913 V Nickel...sold by Stack's in '93.

BTW, I was digging around some boxes over the weekend and I found a slightly worn 1894-S Dime and a PCGS sample slab of a 1964 Dime MS64 1st generation holder. You can have it, the 1964 dime that is. Is it one of the rarer varities? I'm sure we'll meet up at a show or something and I'll give it to you if you would like it.

According to a post Alan Herbert made on RCC in 2000, Reed Hawn is dead.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Reed Hawn was a big collector of Charlotte and Dalonega gold also.

Stacks sold his exceptional collection of half dollars around 1973.
