I am still under the impression that no coins will end up in anyones hands and the seller is just ripping people off.

If you want to shut him down, bid on one - ask for contact information - tell eBay the contact information is incorrect - they will shut them down.
  • Possession of United States counterfeits (without marking) is illegal, but unevenly inforced. It is the Secret Service's bailiwick, but even they are challenged as to how each agent interprets the law or chooses to act on it.

On one occasion, I believe, the ANA's collection came very close to being confiscated while being used to teach students to detect counterfeits! Now there's a poster story for the stereotypical Federal bureaucratic attitude!

    "Sec. 2101. - Marking requirements

"(b) Coins and other numismatic items

"The manufacture in the United States, or the importation into the United States, for introduction into or distribution in commerce of any imitation numismatic item which is not plainly and permanently marked ''copy'', is unlawful and is an unfair or deceptive act or practice in commerce under the Federal Trade Commission Act (15 U.S.C. 41 et seq.). "

These Morgans don't seem to be "permanently marked 'copy'" so they seem to violate the Hobby Protection Act.

  • Well he hasn't been pulled from Ebay so to hell with it, I'm gonna order me one and see if I ever even get anything. It all seems fishy to me but since I collect counterfits (don't tell the seceret service please I don't want my collection taken away) I'm gonna give it a try.
