Farming out difficult coins

Does PCGS ever "farm out" coins that might be difficult to either authenticate or grade to a specialist in that area? If so, how does this process work, are the coins sent to the specialist or does he/she come to PCGS? Can you name a few examples of coin types that this might be done with?

    PCGS occassionally consults outside experts, usually only for esoteric stuff like Colonials or 1943 copper pennies. We send the coin to the expert.
