What do they cover in grading classes?

Do they spend most of the time teaching to grade Unc Morgans, or give all series and circs a fair shake also?

If you mean the week-long ANA grading classes in Colorado Springs...

The Basic class covers multiple series and focuses on the different factors that make up a grade, along with the technique of grading (lighting, rotating the coin, looking for rub, etc.)

The Advanced class is more focused on MS grading, and covers different series plus commems.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

At the seminar in Charlotte, they brought 1000 coins from the ANA grading set, all metals and series. It was very instructional to look at the various coins and have an opportunity to ask a grader about specific issues the coin may have, and how they interpret the coin.

Among those 1000 coins that you get to look at are also problem coins like: AT, whizzed, PVC, etc.

Not enough problem coins to look at when I was there. But, still a very cool experience to pick the grader's mind for 2-3 days.
