1972 Ike dollar type 1, 2, 3 OK'ed?

I have not been on the forum much lately, but I looked at the PCGS on-line pop report.
They have the Three types of Ike dollars listed seperately.
Looks as though PCGS has excepted the Type change?
Now are we able to send our 72-P coins into PCGS for new holders?
I also assume that PCGS will charge a 5.00 charge for the new holder, and is
there a 10 coin limit to re-holder coins?
Looks like good news

I don't know any of the submission details, presumably there'll be an announcement when they're ready for them.
It also makes the Ike set even more interesting.
...And just think. None of these types were in mint sets.
I just noticed them on the POP reports yesterday. My Registry set now has my 1972P listed as type 3, but no room to list my MS65 type 1 or my MS64 type 2.
Question for David Hall. What is going to be done with the registry? Will all 3 be required?
Anyone know?

This is what I saw from the on-line pop report
PCGS No 87409 (type one) MS63 (0) MS64 (4) MS65 (7) MS66 (0)
PCGS No 97409 (type two) MS63 (7) MS64 (10) MS65 (3) MS66 (0)
PCGS No 7409 (type three) MS63 (170) MS64 (660) MS65 (216) MS66 (9)
Apparently, PCGS is grading type 1,2,3 now. Which kind of service that we should use?
Will we get the free grading deal as Rooise's FB regrade
Hmm... possibly, but I've learned that holding my breath while waiting for attribution can be hazardous to my health.
Those pop numbers look about right for my coins, but I thought at least one MS63 Type 1 too (toned coin) and a couple AU Type 2? My pop report access isn't working for some reason.
They are re-using the Type 3 coin number for existing coins per my suggestion, as it's by far the easiest in high grade and will prevent someone from passing off an existing coin as something more valuable.
I also suggested they label the Type 1 and Type 2 with the "Coin: 4A" and "Coin: 4B" on their other proprietary numbering coin number thing and leaving the Type 3 as "Coin: 4". That may be a bit confusing but there's not really an ideal solution, especially now after-the-fact. Of course if they had done this years ago when originally suggested it wouldn't be much of an issue now.
That numbering would be sort of consistent with other series, where the "A", "B" etc. are for scarcer varieties so you can have a "complete" set without the lettered versions, and the Type 3 is the best/cheapest choice for those who just want to fill the 1972-P slot.
I'm not sure how many people actually use the "Series:" and "Coin:" thing. Personally I never really liked that addition to the label anyway... enough numbers on there already.

I know of 2 MS66 Type II's. It would be a shame if those coins go in, and they take the pop's up.
Anyone contacted PCGS about this yet???
Seems like they are ready to go to me.

I would assume that you would send your coins in for review. If they were Type 2, then the type 2 pop would reflect this and the type 3 (default) type would be reduced as the coin is no longer listed as that type.
The last week pop report for MS65 are 226.
Right now it is type one (7), type two (3) and type three (216).
I would assume they will take the pop out when re-grade them.
Do we get the free re-grade? Will anyone ask HRH?

There was a snafu about wanting to keep an example of each, but apparently that was resolved (otherwise I'm missing a few coins!) I sent raw samples of each a year ago or however long it's been, hopefully they found those.
Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the labels and coins match. For those wanting to submit, you might want to wait 3-4 days and I'll report back.
I'm going to leave the invoice amount blank and have them call.
Let us know how yours turn out!

They didn't follow my suggestion for the Series/Coin: 4, 4A, 4B. The way it is now, existing unattributed coins will say Coin: 4 on them which may make some to believe they are Type 1. But there wasn't a great solution either way for that, and it's a secondary issue.
Note that they did reuse the existing coin number 7409 for the easiest-in-high-grade Type 3, which was the more important decision.
Ahh.... life is good.
Thanks, GrandAm
No complaining allowed, especially if you happen to have a multi-thousand dollar Type 1 that should be pretty happy sitting under one of the newly designated labels.
