Did you accidentally hit an extra 0 when typing in the opening bid?

Here's another 1904-O PCGS MS64 Morgan that recently sold on eBay for 1/4 the price that's a lot more vivid and is 2-sided target tone.

I had the coin you link certified. I found it raw with 2 others, that one was the nicer of the three. The colors on that one are VIVID!

Jbsteven, looked pretty vivid in the pictures which isn't unusual for this seller........being that I love Blue coins, it naturally caught my attention for the blue itself + the target-toning. Quite a nice combo but Blue coins sure don't seen to be popular with collectors as most value the jewel tones - which are dynamite - like the icon coin you use. I, just enjoy singing the "Blues" with some blue blue blue coins............<grin>.

PS, still enjoying the pretty reverse toned 1954P PCGS MS66 I got from you at Long Beach show a few weeks back......nice deeper periphery colors with a light colored, almost target toned look....... image

ahhhhhh yes now the memory is there! cool dime
  • Well, I looked at the link. The color of toning is nothing like the one we have. That color blue, I have seen many coins toned that way, looks as if it's burned on (even if it's not). The coin we have looks more like the blue colored Saran wrap you buy at the store. The blue is more of a clear watery color than a fired on color. Much difference.

Is Saran wrap toning worth 20 times Grey Sheet? Just curious.

I'll butt in here a little. I happen to know and have bought a few coins from the folks at Broken-CC. If they say it's a really nice colorful coin that sets itself apart from others, I would believe them. Nope, they aren't cheap but great coins are never cheap.

BTW Aaron.... I'm the one that bought the great colorful Walker (which after I got home I checked the image on the website and the image did no justice to the coin) from you at the San Jose show, and the colorful CC Gsa at the Santa Clara show. I didn't know this was a board to question someones coin prices and quality. I don't think other sellers would like the same.image

Thank you for your support. Hope your still enjoying those coins.

I feel that the scan doesn't do the coin justice, and we put our money where our mouth is by offering a 15 day return even on Ebay auctions. We don't want people bidding with the idea of returning it even before they get it, but we allow the out to those who feel that the value is not there. As far as is it worth 20 times bid, yes. Great toning can add as much as 100 times the value. image

Maybe in the dealers eyes it does. You're pushing it now dudeimage

BTW, Yes I still have the coins. Guess maybe I get a discount at the CC show huh? When is that show anyway?

  • The show is in September. I think the first weekend, but it may be the second weekend.

As for the pushing it with 100 times bid, my mistake. Last months Greysheet had an example and I thought it was a MS64 81-S that brought $4945, but it was a MS65 (bid at that time $74) which was only 66+ times bid. I stand corrected! {lot #'s 601 and 602 in Ira & Larry C&C 9-20-02 auction} So, that was actually two coins that both realized that kind of number.

    And yes, discount applies..

You'd be referring to this one:

It does look just a bit better than yours, though.

This one brought 20x Greysheet in a much more recent Goldberg auction - last month:

I'd say it also looks a bit better than yours.

But, it could just be your image. I don't know.

PS: I'm not really trying to give you a hard time, really just trying to learn this stuff.

  • Appreciate the comment, but was never really concerned. I could tell you were being inquisitive and not agressive. As far as trying to learn, I think we all are. Toned dollars seem to just be going nuts. But then again, they are pretty and rare. This coin is being started at that price because of the thousands of dollars I've handled, it does stand out. And I have handled coins like those in the images you posted. I agree they are prettier.
