Can you explain, for each coin set, what comprises a "short set?"

Thank you

"Short sets are numismatic slang for partial sets of certain series. For example...a complete set of Walking Liberty half dollars is from 1916 to 1947. The early dates are all very expensice. Some collectors of limited means only collect the 1941 to 1947 issues and this is called the "short set. The sets aren't entirely logical and most are hold over traditions from the 1960s and 1970s. Here's the commonly collected "short sets"...

    1934-1960 something Lincoln cents
    1941-1960 something Lincolns
    1934 to 1938 Buffalo nickels
    1934 to 1945 Mercury dimes
    1941 to 1945 Mercury dimes
    1941 to 1947 Walking halves
