1941-D Nickel Double Die Reverse

Has anyone ever heard of a 41-D double die reverse?

I have one that just came from from the factory MS67FS and I was reveiwing the coin and the reverse looks doubled. Montecello is doubled as is e pluribus unum. Doesn't look like strike doubling.

Like anyones opinion if you have one or have heard of one.

probably machine doubling.

My understanding is the machine doubling is a shelf like or flat second strike.

This has rounded second lettering and is over 50% of the coin. Top to bottom of the right side.

Could that machine???

I'm certainly no double die expert, but I think it's more.

Like your thoughts.

Wish I could place a scan, but my scan software is not that good.

With machine doubling it is the "underlying" image that will have the shelf like appearance. The top image will be rounded.

A doubled die will exhibit appear rounded on both the top and bottom images.

To me, the giveaway is whether the doubling follows the serifs of the lettering -- if so, likely doubled die, if not -- strike doubling ...
