Home Buy, Sell, & Trade - U.S. Coins

How do you feel about sending your coins via the U.S. mail ? Fed Ex ?, U.P.S. ?

I have never had a coin lost from any of them, but my preference is the U.S. mail because of the delivery practices of the other 2 private services.

I guess there is still a level of comfort with Uncle Sam.

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

For anything over 500, Registered is the best. If you are in a hurry, Express is okay, as long as you fully insure the contents. IMO.
Otherwise, I use insured first class mail. mdwoods

There's also the issue of UPS adding surcharges.

I had a UPS account - and dutifully entered all the correct information for each shipment, and every bloody time - they'd tack on so many surcharges they ate all my profits.

USPS all the way from now on. I'll never do business with UPS again. image

do not send any coins that are very valuable through fedex. you will not be covered if your package disappears, read the fine print on all shipping documents. they have a great track record for delivering, but rare coins fall into their prohibited list.
  • No matter who you use you will eventually encounter losses. I use registered on anything over $1000.
  • USPS Registered Insured is the Safest way although it is a little pricy. I just had an auction end where my stated shipping charge was $5.50 including insurance. The coin sold for $954.00 and it cost me $11.45 to ship registered insured and thats not counting materials.
