A bid was placed and the auction was won for a 45D Merc Dime MS67. Here is the auction picture.
When it got here it looked like this.
Another case of bad eyes on my part I guess. Sort of cool though as I have a 45D MS67 coin in a 45S MS67 holder. What do you guys/gals think of this ? Should have this coin been auctioned without even mentioning the mis-label problem ? A first for me from a auction.
By the way. In My Humble None Knowing Opinion "No Way" is this a MS67 coin. Does someone have a 45S that is floating around with the wrong grade on it ?

I recently bought a PCGS MS67FB 1941-S Merc. Registered it in my set. Went to compare it to my 66FB coin for mintmark variations and guess what? My PCGS MS67FB 1941-S holder had a 41-D dime in it, and I had not even noticed! Emailed the dealer, returned the coin, and received a very prompt refund, so no harm done except for my embarrassment.

those are cool to find. From the pics that Heritage provided, you are corrct, it does not appear to be a 67, but your pic (WOW) sure makes it look like one for sure.
Here would be your chance to pull a fast one on pcgs, send it in for grade guarantee, and see if it comes back in the same holder...lol.... if it does, you could make an assumtion that pcgs did not even consider looking at the grade, and they dont check real close to mint marks.
A waste of time and money, but it would be interesting to see the results.

Actually I was a number buyer on this one. I just wanted a Finest known Dime in the grade and did not pay much attention at all. As Wayne said this was embarrassing when it was received. Oh well as Dennis said these are cool when they are found.
I actually had one other of these about three years ago that was bought sight seen. Did not even notice it untill I got home. Now that is when you really feel silly and dumb as a pitching wedge.

<< <i>That actually happens all the time, wrong date or mintmark. The dealer that sends it in usually catches it though and gets it fixed. >>
If this really happens fairly frequently, that doesn't speak highly of the TPG industry.
<< <i>I can't see the mint mark on my computer screen >>
I don't think any computer screen would be capable of showing the mint mark from those images.
