Proof Barbers>>>>3 additions & 3 upgrades==FINISHED !

The number one, Barber Half Proof set, has been sold. I obtained 5 coins from the SDC set and I guess I am finally finished with my Barber Halves. The final set grade is 68.16.

Also been doing some picture taking and now know just how complex and confusing the process is, as I am fairly new to computers and digital cameras. There is a link to my finished Barbers below. It was interesting to find out that Pinnacle Rarities had helped build the SDC set as well as mine. The SDC set was put together at least 10 years ago though. The SDC Set had some especially rare, post 1900, DCAMS and Cameos, which I was very lucky to obtain.

    Zerbe:

An incredible and magnificent acomplishment. I would be pleased if my single type coin was a good as your least.

Here's a hint on images. See if Pinnacle has images in their files for any of the coins you got from them. They can email them to you in jpeg format. Then you can post those images. All my set images are supplied by the dealers I bought them from.

Zerbe, that is an absolutely phenomenal accomplishment! You should consider exhibiting the set at a large show such as the ANA Convention. It would be a rush to see them all beautifully displayed.

That set (and your others) are what I think the Registry is all about. The best of the best!

    Zerbe,

Congratulations on an incredible set. You've obviously been working on it for some time and built a set that few will ever be able to compete with. I do hope you put it on display at the ANA so we can all see it.

  • Zerbe,

Let us know if you ever are going to display this collection. I'd love to see it in person. Keep working on the photos!

You have put together a set of proof Barber Half dollars that will never be equaled. That's pretty cool!

    That is outstanding set.
It's something to be very proud of, you can't find coins like that overnight.

  • I too wish my one type coin was as nice as the worst coin in that set!

It would be really neat to see the differences between those coins. I've never seen so many high grade proof Barbers in one place before. I think they would make a great display!

Thanks for all the accolades from such highly recognizable collectors, who have such amazing Registry Sets themselves.

Cosmic, I am in the process of experimenting with taking and posting pictures. As you know there is a lot involved to 'get it right', but at least I am on that track now.

Greg, Carl, and Boiler, I guess I should get rid of that 'lowly' 1901 PR 66 Cam. image. The sad fact is that I used to have an NGC 1901 in PR 68 CAM, but it would not cross to PCGS. A collector in CA. who only collects high grade PR Barber Halves has the coin now and swears it is the best coin in his set. image. Look for his set, some time in the not too distant future, to be on the Registry. If he succeeds in crossing a couple of NGC coins, his set will grade close to PR 68.

Oldcameoproofsguy, Windycity, and Bigmoose, I actually was thinking of displaying the set, but have not come up with a definite 'plan' yet.

Baseball, I only need a couple of coins now, to finish other sets that I have on the PCGS Registry, so I am not even thinking of starting any new sets. I think I need a short break, as putting together a dozen sets has been very time consuming, and actually to be truthfull, my wallet needs the break more than me. image

  • I just wanted to congratulate you on the set. I know how tough some of those dates are.
