I have just come acrosss the most fantastic iridescent high grade large date Copper 1982-D Super gem BU Lincoln's in ms67-ms68 quality. They are sparkling with purple, blue, pinks and greens. My question is, will PCGS grade them as red? There is no brown on the coins but they are not red. Do you think they would consider a new designation (of course not) but do they automatically fall in the red category?

If you see purple, blue, or green and these colors account for more than 5-10% of the coins surface area, PCGS will label it RB. About a year ago, I saw a Lincoln (I think it was 1957-D) that look much as you described (breathtaking) and was graded MS67RB.
Any toning other than red is treated as brown. However, if these coins are as spectacular as you've described, others will bid accordingly, regardless of the designation.
Good luck.

It is actually rare, as you know, to find any post 1959 Lincoln with PCGS R/B or BR designations. The pop report reflects that fact!

They will grade them RB, but who cares. They could easily sell for a premium. Here are two of my purple Indians graded 65RB as examples.
