Coin filled lucite toilet seat arrives - Caught in the act!

Yes,

I was the lucky winner of the coin-filled toilet seat on eBay. Hid it from the wife while I was away at the Long Beach show...didn't want her to know about it prematurely.

While she was away, I skinned my knuckles and twisted by back & neck to impossible
angles while I installed the heavy seat and lid in the powder room. You can just imagine her expression when she first came in from work and used the powder room.

"That's NOT staying," she announced. I explained that it made a statement (exactly what that statement was I did not elaborate). Verdict is still out.

Since I read that Bowers & Meraena would pay One Million dollars for a 1913 Libery Nickel, I thought I'd check out the two polished and embedded Liberty Nickels in the seat for a date.

My wife snapped this one while I was checking the embedded coins for a 1913
Liberty Heat Nickel. There were two embedded...an 1898 and a 1901. No jackpot for me.

Wait, is that an axe she has besides the camera?

Ira, so your the one that outbid me !!!!

The main reason i wanted to win it was to send the politicians a clear message every time i had to go!!!image Les
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
  • Thanks for that image! I really am laughing out loud!

I missed that on ebay, and I'm sure my wife would be thankful that I did. Neat item, kind of in the vein of items of "for the man that has everything." Since the coins are already encapsulated, this could pose a serious threat to PCGS and others if the idea catches on. I am going to start looking this weekend for a house with more bathrooms.
    I brake for ear bars.
  • Ira, That is a good looking seat you got there. Your ole lady should be proud to have graced it!!image

    Ditto! imageimageimage

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

That's a great pic, Ira. By the way, now that we have a pic of you, I must also say that you have chosen a great icon, too! Uncanny! image
Ahh, if coins could talk, tellers of tales gone by...
  • I think you should submit it to PCGS. I wonder if they could slab it!!image

    Great Photo!

Now that should go into a registry set.

  • Hehehe.......great photo! Kinda sends the message that coins are in the crapper right now!!! image Wrong message to send right now i'd think....

By the way....NOW'S the time to change your eBay user name from "iras4" to "iras1-2

.....meaning, of course..... "Ira Stein.....the number 1 guy in the number 2 business". Ira's signing off now........he has some coin business to attend to: image

If i had gotten that thing......lucite or no lucite......those coins would be toning right now! image

Oh.....what did that thing go for anyway?

  • << <i>Instead of cabinet friction . . . er . . . uh . . . would they suffer from butt friction??? >>

......or possibly slide friction? BTW, whatever happened to "buy the coin......NOT the holder"? I think in this case the reverse was true....you got it, er, um.....ass backwards! image

Geeze.....i sure hope Ira has a sense of humor here.........butt then...he DID buy the seat! All in good fun......

Send these coins out to PCGS........bet they come back "cleaned" for sure. Butt, i could be wrong. In any case........any BB'd ones for AT ones could arguably be proven to have toned quite naturally.

All in all, i guess you could say the coin market is really hot right now....."steamy" hot, and Ira is sitting on a windfall! image

That humanity at large will ever be able to dispense with artificial paradises seems unlikely. Most men and women lead lives at the worst so painful, and at the best so monotonous, poor, and limited, that the urge to escape, the longing to transcend themselves, if only for a few moments, is and always has been one of the principal appetites of the soul.

Now you have all discovered the power of the true dark side.
