I bought a collection of MS Kennedys today and noticed I also had a nice grouping of them on hand already, so I figured I would register my first PCGS set under the "Kennedy w/ varieities" area (now #3). I will also try to register the set at the NGC site as well this weekend and see how their system works.
I was very surprised at how easy it is to register the set with PCGS and how automated and efficient the system really is. Very impressive PCGS!
The MS Kennedy series has always been a personal favorite of mine. I plan to try to work the set up to the #2 slot and tuck in right behind RG. If anyone has any neat MS Kennedys to offer, please PM me and if you see anything in my set you are interested in, just suggest a fair trade and I'll see what I can do. I am not "obcessed" with the set, but just plan to have some fun with it

The PCGS site is easier to enter coins. I've had a hard time entering large denom coins on the NGC site.... the drop down boxes get out of whack on the screen Does anyone else have this trouble?
The NGC site has a very nice feature. When editing a set, you can tell it to build the best set possible out of the coins you have entered. I entered denomination type sets, then built a complete type set from it with a single click.

At 25% complete and top 5 looks good. Those 1964 MS67 look even better I will be interested to here your take on the NGC site. Some time ago I messed around with it a while and did not care for it. I have not been back since. Maybe it's better.

Welcome, or welcome again. As Ryan said, you were #1 in the '99 registry.

Why does he have to be one or the other? Couldn't he easily be both?

The Ludlow Brilliant Collection (1938-64)
Bruce: You know I love a 19th Century rarity as much as the next guy. And, I know you have no intention of collecting MS Kennedys. But, I did want to comment on your reference to the set being "clad".
The Kennedy half starts off just 10 years after the beloved classic Commems you collect ends. Interesting, some of the VERY TOUGHEST classic Commems are the last years!! Look at your very own collection - are you not still missing a Wash Carver in MS67? Heck, PCGS has graded less than 10 MS67's for the entire WC series and PCGS has yet to grade a single BTW in MS68. The last 6 or 7 years of the silver Commems contain numerous nearly impossible coins to locate in MS68, while the 1892 and 1893 Commems and many from the 1920's are far more "doable" in MS68 and even MS69!
The same holds true for MINT STATE Kennedies IMHO. Coins like the 1969(d) and 1970(d) are nearly impossible to locate in MS68 and thus far just 3 examples have even been found in MS67 between both dates! Coins from the 1989-1991 era are very challenging in high grade, as are the 1982-83 specimens. Even a coin like the 2000(d) is quickly becoming a scarce modern rarity in MS68 (none yet).
I have always been a big fan of MINT STATE KENNEDIES because beginning in the 1980's I would buy mountains of fresh mint sets (when no one else was even looking for Kennedies) and find very few super gems. There is little doubt in my mind that the set has a bright future ahead of it. Of course, the collector who maintains the world class #1 collection used to possess the finest set of MS Mercury Dimes known, then Silver MS Wash Quarters, all sold to now pursue primarily MS Kennedies.
Make no mistake about it, this is a very cool set!

Rick - it's back to the hypnotist for you. You are a pattern dealer. You are a pattern dealer - you need to sell me more coins, not try to buy them back!
