HOW WOULD YOU PRICE...........?

I'm trying to figure out how to price modern MS70 gold commems.

My delema is that there really isn't any gauge to go by.

Teletrade is....well....lets just say.....not a good gauge.

Ebay has no research abilities that I know of.

Major coin dealers don't always have the rare ones on their price lists.

What I paid is only a gauge of one.

I understand it's a supply and demand market, but nobody really wants to just say "I'll give you $$$$ for your ______" without at least a starting point.

I suppose if it's a true rarity then asking "the sky" would certainly bring an offer that is "The limit"

Just wondering............image

  • One of the 1st steps is to contact collector's on the Registry that own the same coins or that you know and try and find the price/range they paid. While it may only be a few collector's that have your 70's, along with the price you paid you may broadly define a price range that the market will bare. Then look to other sources to confirm. A start anyway.

Another way is to go by the current pop, and other sales of commems with similar pops. Just need to watch out for the more rare coins in total mintage, and the highly desired coins.

You can search past ebay auctions if that's in reference to what you were saying by "Ebay has no research abilities that I know of."
