Multi-Sport sets?

Are there any other multi-sports sets on the registry other than Joe Orlando's 200 tops sportscards?

The reason I ask, is because right now, I'm assembling a multi-sport collection of HOF and/or players with their numbers retired in Chicago sports history.

I think having some multi-sport sets might be interesting. Thoughts?

Check out the 1933 Sport Kings. It is listed with the Miscellaneous on the registry.
It is a 48 card set that is about as multi sport as you can get. There is representation in baseball, basketball, hockey, boxing, wrestling, swimming, cycling + more.

I meant more like a set that is comprised of cards from various sports and years, rather than a set that was issued that way.

For example, for my Chicago "set":

    Bears – HOF

    Bronco Nagurski - #3 (Key Card – 1935 National Chicle #34)
    Dick Butkus - #51 (Rookie Card – 1966 Philadelphia #31)
    Gale Sayers - #40 (Rookie Card – 1966 Philadelphia #38)
    George Blanda - #16 (Rookie Card – 1964 Bowman #23)
    George Halas - #7 (Key Card - 1952 Bowman #48)
    Mike Ditka - #89 (Rookie Card – 1962 Topps #17)
    Mike Singletary - #50 (Rookie Card – 1983 Topps #38)
    Red Grange - #77 (Key Card – 1933 Goudey Sports Kings #4)
    Sid Luckman - #42 (Rookie Card – 1948 Leaf #1)
    Walter Payton - #34 (Rookie Card – 1976 Topps #148)

    Chicago Bulls – Retired Numbers

    Jerry Sloan - #4 (Rookie Card – 1970-71 Topps #148)
    Bob Love - #10 (Rookie Card – 1969-70 Topps #78)
    Michael Jordan - #23 (Rookie Card – 1986-87 Fleer #57)

Chicago White Sox – Retired Numbers/HOF

    Nellie Fox - #2 (Rookie Card – 1951 Bowman #232)
    Harold Baines - #3 (Rookie Card – 1981 Topps #347)
    Luke Appling - #4 (Key Card- 1934 Goudey #27)
    Luis Aparicio - #11 (Rookie Card – 1956 Topps #292)
    Ted Lyons - #16 (Key Card - 1933 Goudey #7)
    Carlton Fisk - #72 (Rookie Card - 1972 Topps #79)

Of course, I need to add Cubs and Blackhawk players to the list as well:

    Chicago Cubs – Retired Numbers/HOF

    Cap Anson – (Key Card - 1887 N-28)
    Hack Wilson – (Key Card – 1933 Goudey #211)
    Ernie Banks - #14 (Rookie Card – 1954 Topps #94)
    Billy Williams - #26 (Rookie Card - 1961 Topps #141)
    Ferguson Jenkins - #31 (Rookie Card – 1966 Topps #254)
    *Ron Santo - #10 (Rookie Card – 1961 Topps #35)
    *Ryne Sandberg - #23 (Rookie Card – 1983 Topps #83)

    Chicago Blackhawks – Retired Numbers/HOF

    Glenn Hall - #1 (Rookie Card – 1957 Topps #20)
    Bobby Hull - #9 (Rookie Card – 1958 Topps #66)
    Denis Savard - #18 (Rookie Card – 1981 OPC #63)
    Stan Mikita - #21 (Rookie Card – 1960 Topps #14)
    Tony Esposito - #35 (Rookie Card – 1969 OPC #138)
  • I think it is a great idea - I'm essentially doing it for Philadelphia sports teams, although it would be great if it was a little more "formalized."

Cool set. I'd suggest e-mailing BJ at bj@collectors.com and asking her how to proceed. She'll likely ask for a spreadsheet with the proposed composition and weighting of the set, and you'll probably want to formally request it by submitting three cert numbers that you'll be putting into the set. Good luck,
    Joe

Thanks for the suggestion to submit it. There are a few more cards I need to think about whether or not to include them.

For example on the Cubs, Ron Santo and Ryne Sandberg. Neither are in the Hall or have the numbers retired, but a list of Chicago sports legends would not be complete without them.

One more question, how does one go about deciding weight? Based on price/availability?

I'd think the 1887 N-28 Cap Anson would probably be the highest weighted card in the set.

See that's the thing. Sosa is still active, so he's not in the Hall or have his # retired yet. Hopefully, after this recent incident he still will. I don't think I'll include any active players.

Jackson isn't in the Hall either, but I agree he probably should be on the list.

There's also the new UD Superstars set. It's not on the registry but is an interesting new set. The four major sports, plus golf. And there's a David Beckham insert card, with jerseys from him, Ichiro and Kobe, making it really a 6-sport set.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
