UPDATED*wanted CHEAP slabs - and I mean cheap**UPDATED

We often have at coin shows a tub of cheap slabs for sale (less than $10 each) and we could use additional slabs as long as they are cheap. We can use PCGS, NGC, ICG, and ANACS slabs in any denomination but they gotta be cheap cheap cheap (and please not 20 of the same date). Feel free to PM or email me with the real cheapies you happen to have laying around.

Thank you all for the offers - we have been able to get about 150 slabs so far. We don't need anymore Lincolns, or state quarters right now. Could use some proofs, Jeffersons, halves, or dollars (even silver eagles) as long as they are cheap.

  • I appreciate the PM's, keep 'em coming
  • What are you selling Cheap, cheap, and I mean cheap. Got any PICS. The cost to get these slabs 3rd partied cost more than that.

  • I know the cost to getting them slabbed cost more than what I charge retail but often times myself and many others send in numerous coins that don't make the grade and need to just get rid of them. This is what I try to do at shows - great deals on cheap slabs. They are perfect for people trying to learn to grade, or just want to add some cheap graded coins to their collection. I also try to keep a good mix of coins if possible.
Here's just an example, I have a 1964 D dime in PCGS MS64 - now this coin isn't worth much at all but I'll likely sell it for $4 or $5 at a show and the person that buys it will love adding it to their collection even if it isn't the showcase to their collection.
  • Sounds like you have a plan. Don't you think, prior to sending them in for grading, your personnal review would tell you that you are lossing money? I assume, you can tell, or have that funny feelling.image

Most of the slabs, I daresay, are mistakes made by people. I have several where I thought the coins were better than they are. As I learned how to grade better, I could see why they are not as good. So they are mistakes. And they are not easy to get rid of, which is why I think this idea works great. Everyone can be happy!
  • It's true looking at the coin can tell you if it's worth it or not, but sometimes they don't come out as expected and it's just an avenue to get rid of slabs that really aren't worth anything or the expense of resubmitting.

So far from this post I have been able to pick up about 100 cheap slabs and I could still use some more. I only make 50c to $1 per slab but it works out for everybody (at least I hope so). Thank you ALL for your offers!!!
  • I'm getting better at grading, but my first efforts were really, well, poor. Luckily it was "free" since they were my free submissions for joining PCGS.

My last effort, out of about 40 submitted, only about 5 didn't make the grade, and I can readily see why, and won't make that mistake again.
The trend for me is the right direction. I need to go to shows and sit and stare at coins and bother dealers.

Real Soon Now, I will only submit MS69 and MS70 coins, and PR69 and PR70 coins, and make thousands of $ on every coin.
And if you believe that, I have a 1913 funny looking nickel to sell you ... ;-)

Thanks for doing business with me, it was a pleasure. My coins are safely at the post office. Enjoy.

    regards,

  • I'll give you $5 for that funny looking nickel if it's in a slab...lol. Thank you very much and trial and error is the way most of us truely learn how to grade.
  • Thank you all!!!! Could still use some cheap proofs or halves or dollars.
