1) Hurray for the PSA Registry for drawing collectors like Chris to collect PSA cards
2) Congrats to Chris for having the money to spend on high grade cards and for taking the time to not only build some of the finest 70's sets on the registry but to list some pics as well
Sets - 1970, 1971 and 1972
Always looking for 1972 O-PEE-CHEE Baseball in PSA 9 or 10!

outerbankyank on eBay!
'71 Carlton PSA 9 - $1776
'71 Blyleven PSA 9 - $2176
'71 Banks PSA 9 - $2096
not to mention a few dozen other $500 cards. I was unfortunate enough to also be bidding on the '71 NL HR Leaders, but my $500 bid didn't even come close.
Maybe one of these days I'll have that kind of disposable income, but I doubt it.
Maybe true, but you can bet from here on out he will get almost first shot for every
71 in a nine. If he has the money then good for him for if he's willing to pay then
lets have him get everycard and build what his money is buying. The ultimate toughest
set of the 70's.
Just my 2 cents.
now if he could get into the top five of the 53 bowman set...

'Tis too bad -- I'm pretty sure Bill Goodwin had one for closer to $1,200.
I remember a short time ago thinking that it would be tough to beat out Steve Pekovich's 1971 set. It won't be long know until Chris's set eclipses it.
Based on these bids...I don't think he's losing any sleep over it.
Regards,
Alan
I doubt he ended up spending $14,025.
Makes sense to me and a win/win situation for both parties....he would of had some leverage....as there is not a huge market for $400-500 1971 PSA 9 commons.

<< <i>There are still 10 more 71 9s, up there. I guess Chris's mouse finger got tired. >>
He's probably got 'em. For those of us working on this set, the best approach is to wait for the second round of 9's to come by and let Chris gobble up what's there now.
I've emailed Chris a few times and he was nothing but cordial and kind, disclosing some background about himself. I'm truly fascinated at what he can do with his collection..and..for someone in their early 30's!

Media Executive who Loves Baseball
Hi, I work and live in New York (Battery Park City) as the president of a company specializing in Emerging Europe media operations and investments. Just started on my baseball and hockey card hobby again after repatriating from Russia and Spain. I have very limited interest in football and basketball cards.
Favorite Players, Cards
Hello everyone and thanks to everyone who has helped me build my collections. I am looking to finish a number of PSA graded sets that I have been building over the last few years, largely in baseball and hockey. With respect to baseball I am collecting the following years in Topps: 1962, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1975 Mini and 1978. I am also looking for the ever elusive 1953 Bowman Color over number 112 in PSA 8 or better. With respect to hockey I mainly collect by submitting my own raw cards, but I am looking for 1954-55 Topps Hockey in PSA 8 or 9.

2. 1971-72 Trio stickers PSA 8+

<< <i>Wow...early 30's! I'm 31, and can't even come close to imagining what it must be like to have that kind of cash flow. Anybody know what he does for a living? >>
I seem to remember somewhere seeing him state that the 70 set is his passion because it is his birth year.
I can say I beat Chris on a 71T PSA 9 last summer, and it is now 1 of 2 out there (the second one just sold on ebay, and Chris said his snipe program crashed and he couldn't snipe it).
It was the last auction I won over Chris. He has since learned the snipe route.
Like I said earlier, nice guy, very cordial. I look forward to meeting him at a show someday.

ON ITS WAY TO NEWPORT BEACH, CA 92658
I spend a lot on cards, but it is a reasonable amount of my liquidity relative to my overall income and I have really enjoyed the chase on 71 and I really enjoy the set and even though it is expensive, I am not into collecting necessarily to flip the cards, so a bit of a high price here and there is okay for a set I plan to keep the rest of my life - same on the 53 Bowman Color, which is a difficult task, but hopefully I have a long time ahead of me to finish it.
All the best to everyone
Chris
