Dennis - it was on the back page of last weeks Coin World - I mentioned it I believe a couple weeks ago - saw it then too - I suggested we all get together and "share" it piecemealimage

I could own it three days a year.... emm... I'd rather own something else 365 days a year, and get an added day on leap year. But that's just me.

That's got to be a stunning looking dime.

I'll email them and see if they can shoot me a pic or 2.

    I'll let you know.

That 1916-D dime sold within days of the Coin World mailing. They did price it very reasonably, given what it is.

That 1916-D dime is seeing more and more demand as time passes. One of the greatest 20th century coins.

    I don't think it's sold.
I got this email reply earlier.

"After much discussion and consultation at the recent Long Beach show the
1916D Mercury dime has been sent to NGC for conservation."

I will add that DVRC are nice people to deal with and their stuff (at least the coins I have bought) are priced very reasonably.

Marc, you're not missing something, they are. If it was that much of a dog then what was it doing in a PCGS 67 holder in the first place? I guess it's great if the new owner likes cleaned coins, but it would now be considered off limits in our camp.

Actually though, I recently saw a 1917 66 FB with the most awful violet and sea-green toning on it. Maybe it would look a little better if lightened up a little bit. Hmm...

goose3: That IS a strange reply! I would like to get to the bottom of this one. They tell me it was sold and you something completely different!

    Hmmm.

He offered to contact me when the coin is returned also.

I'd just like to see a pic of it!
