BKAH tag line

In reading some posts this morning, I finally stopped to think about BKAH's tag line,

<< "I use PSA...it seems I am not alone." >> followed by the PSA ad about 6,000,000 cards graded.

I'm thinking that's got to be a low number. If it's correct, then I'm accountable for 0.05% of all the cards ever graded by PSA. Are crazysc and davalillo nearing double digits between them?

How about some free gradings when one reaches 0.1%???

It sounds about right - consider 100,000 cards avg for the last 5 years (I think they passed the 1 million mark in early '99 IIRC).
Why do I get the feeling, that some cards are worth money, while others are not?

Where do all of the 100,000 cards a year go? Are they modern cards? I do not see a ton of vintage auctions from you (compared to DSLSports).

Crazy, are you saying you have submitted approximately 1.5 million cards? That is amazing. What is your ebay ID?

I meant PSA graded on average 100,000 cards/month for the last 5 years. That's 6 million. I did not submit that number.

That is still pretty incredible. I for one am not familiar with SAH (I think that was your deal) - if you don't mind, are you now an ebay dealer? wholesaler to some of the dealers? still at SAH? Just curious. Thanks!

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • It makes you realize how small the graded card market is. And wonder why a company like GAI would try to start up and compete with the numerous grading companies already in existence. In one weekend, ticket sales to a new Movie like X-Men II or Finding Nemo exceed PSA's total grading fees from inception to now.

The 61 set has just over 60.000 cards graded, and that is the highest number of any set in the 60's, and I believe second only to the 56 set of any set in existence before 1990. I could be wrong on this, so feel free to correct me, but the point is that the volume of cards graded is actually quite small. With 587 cards in the set, anyone with a complete set in 1961 owns about 1% of all of the cards in the set ever graded!! And complete sets of other years would be even higher percentages.

We definitely need more card collectors, so invite your friends along!

Glad I could help spur some interesting conversation,
but now you can all stop and think
(and check out) My new tag line.
The cabin is my father's and is very nice,
at the top of the mountain in Maggie Valley, NC.

Perhaps PSA and Pixar can have a joint effort to make an animated movie about the sportscard business.

    BKAH,

Maggie Valley, NC. Been there many times. Used to have family vacations in Gatlinburg, TN (prior to Dollywood) and Lake Junaluska, NC. Beautiful country. I remember playing putt-putt golf in Maggie Valley as a kid and riding a chair lift to the top to see the Wild West gun show at high noon.

How much for the cabin? Do you take baseball cards in trade?image

The "chair lift to the top to see the Wild West gun show
at high noon" is actually an amusement park called
Ghost Town in the Sky and it is really cool!

The road to my father's cabin begins right by it.
In fact you can see down into the park from the
top of the mountain where the cabin is.
(there is a ski resort and dude ranch up there too
    called Cataloochee Ranch

My dad is not a collector so cash, check or credit card...
But he does also take PAYPAL!
As for the Rates... they are on the site
and it depends on the seaons
or how long you stay. It sleeps 10 so you can divide
    it up some with others.
