1938-D MS68 Merc in Heritage Sale

There is a 1938-D MS68 in the current auction that has been bid up to $1,750 so far. Is this stupid money for a No Bands or do you think someone is trying to get it upgraded to FB? This is a pop 1/0 coin, but a pop 1/0 1923-P has been out there for sale for a while for about 1K, although it is a 67, not a 68.

I thought this coin might go $1200 tops, but 1750 plus the juice is getting into some big bucks for NB coin. Thoughts Merc collectors?

Dunno,I dont collectNB,but I will ask,can the owner bid on hes own coin?.Al

They can bid on there own coins but if they win they have to pay the
buyers premium, it is cheaper to set a reserve then you only pay 5%
if the reserve is not met.

I have a ms68 no bands 39d PCGS I will sell for a little cheaper than that. It is a 2/0 coin.

has anyone seen any ms69 FB Mercs come up for sale recently? if so what did they bring?

The only pcgs 69fb dime I know is the 39-d
with a pop of 10 . they usually sell quickly
    and rarely go to auction.
